A Bend in the Road

The day his wife was murdered in a hit-and-run accident two years ago looked to be the end of Miles Ryan's existence. Miles really thinks Missy will be his final love since she was his first. Miles Ryan, a deputy in the town of New Bern, North Carolina, is grieving for Missy and also wants to hold the unidentified motorist accountable. Miles then gets to know Sarah Andrews. Sarah, Jonah's son's second-grade teacher, moved to New Bern, a more tranquil place to live, after a tumultuous divorce from Baltimore. Maybe she recognizes the anguish in Jonah's eyes first, then his father's, because of her own personal scars. Miles and Sarah tentatively make eye contact. Before long, they will both be falling in love and laughing for the first time in years. It will be impossible for either of them to predict how intimately connected they are to a startling truth that will cause them to doubt everything they have ever held dear and drive them to make a painful decision that will alter their lives forever.
