Life is like a road trip—it's all about the diversions.

Amy Curry's year has not been good. Amy is needed to transport their automobile from California to Connecticut as her mother has made the decision to relocate across the nation. There's only one little issue: Amy hasn't been able to drive since her father passed away this past spring. Enter Roger, the nineteen-year-old son of a long-time family friend. He's struggling with his own baggage and comes off as surprisingly charming.

Amy had not intended for this vacation to be about meeting new people and accepting her father's death. And visiting eateries and run-down motels and Graceland, as well as driving the Loneliest Road in America and taking in the views of the Colorado Mountains and the Kansas plains, were certainly not on the schedule. But as they go, Amy discovers that sometimes you have to become lost in order to find your way home, and that sometimes the people you least anticipate are the ones you may need the most.
