Alexis believed that her life in high school was typical of dysfunctional lives. As dysfunctional as her parents' marriage, her sister Kasey, who is twelve years old and obsessed with dolls, and even her own antisocial and anti-cheerleader mindset. Alexis feels that her life is moving from disorder into danger as a family argument leads to some heartfelt sisterly bonding. Kasey is behaving weirder than ever: she sometimes green-eyes, speaks in archaic terms, and even occasionally loses track of time while appearing as if she is unaware of her unusual behavior. Their former home is also changing. The home becomes so chilly that their breath is visible, the disconnected air conditioner causes the water on the unlit stove to boil, and the doors open and shut on their own.

Alexis would like to believe that it's all in her brain, but before long, what she used to consider harmless practical jokes might endanger her life and the lives of her loved ones as well as her developing connection with the class president. Though Alexis is aware that she is the only one who can stop Kasey, what would happen if the girl with the green eyes wasn't indeed Kasey?
