Ideal community. Perfect homes. ideal households. It's enough to make some ladies crazy.

In this story, which draws inspiration from actual occurrences, expectant writer Joan Harken is hesitant but eager to accompany her fiancé to his birthplace in Minnesota. She's eager to settle down after living an active youth, following the cries and swirls of a news-rich city life. The motto of Lilydale is "Come Home Forever," and it couldn't be more welcoming.

Still, there seems to be a problem in the idyllic community.

The warmth almost feels like a bother. Joan is plagued by the sensation that everyone is watching her every move. The town continues to be enthralled with an antiquated organization. And with it, the dark mystery of a small boy who disappeared many years ago. And lurking in the shadows, unless Joan is hallucinating, is a terrifyingly familiar figure from her past.

Her fiance says she's being overly suspicious. He could be in the right. But then again, she might have relocated to the world's most deadly tiny town.
