For a long time, corduroy has been available on department store shelves.

However, Lisa recognizes him right once as the bear she has always desired. But according to her mother, he's a touch worn out—he's even missing a button! However, Corduroy is aware that he may present himself in a presentable manner and be Lisa's bear with a little effort. And what better way to get started than by quickly looking for a new button at the department shop!

One of the most adored bears in children's literature is Corduroy, with his unassuming simplicity and innocent feeling. His tale has grown into an enticing childhood classic, as simple and endearing as a little bear's need for a home and a companion and the ideal satisfaction that comes from a young girl's love.

Don Freeman, a jazz trumpet player, was born in San Diego, California, and later relocated to New York City to pursue his artistic studies. After losing his trumpet on a metro train, Mr. Freeman decided to devote himself full-time to his artistic endeavors. He started writing and drawing children's books in the 1940s; among of his best-known works include Beady Bear, Dandelion, Mop Top, Norman the Doorman, and A Pocket For Corduroy, his sequel to Corduroy. In 1978, the Los Angeles Times said, "Ingeniousness and humor, theatricality and commonality, humanity and beauty: these elements survive in his picture books."
