One adolescent guy burdened with a sin rescues humanity at a time.

The narrative of fifteen-year-old Allen Walker, who travels the world in quest of innocence, is told in D. Gray-man, a fictitious account of 19th-century England. After The Great Flood, innocence—a strange substance—washed away to uncharted territory on Earth and was utilized to create akuma, or weapons that destroy demons.

Walker is a natural exorcist, and his main anti-akuma weapon is the cross with the symbol of Innocence engraved on his scarlet, deformed left hand. Walker not only eliminates akuma, but he also discovers that it is concealed inside a person's soul! Walker commands his fellow exorcists in the struggle against the wicked Millennium Earl, who seeks to wipe out humanity, under the direction of the Black Order.
