When Princess Lissla Lissar matures into a lady, the whole realm can see that her beauty is a reflection of her late mother, the queen. However, this resemblance compels her to escape her father's desire and insanity; during the agony and terror of that escape, she loses virtually all memory of herself and the reason of her departure, except for Ash, her dog, who follows her. However, a fortuitous meeting while traveling results in employment at a different king's kennels, where the prince falls in love with the new kennel maid.
