In this captivating book, renowned author Stephen King delves deeply into his imagination to tell the tale of a seventeen-year-old boy who inherits the keys to a parallel universe where good and evil are at battle and there are enormous stakes—both for their world and ours.

Charlie Reade seems to be an average high school student who excels in football and baseball and is a good student overall. He does, however, have a big burden. When he was ten, his mom was murdered in a hit-and-run accident, and the tragedy that followed led to his dad drinking. Charlie gained self-care and parenting skills. Charlie then meets Howard Bowditch, a hermit living in a large mansion at the top of a large hill, when he is seventeen years old. Howard is a dog lover. There's a closed shed in the rear, and it sounds like something is trying to get out. After Mr. Bowditch passes away, he leaves Charlie the home, an enormous quantity of wealth, a cassette tape with an unbelievable narrative, and a duty that is just too much for a little child to handle.

Because the shed is a doorway to another planet, one whose inhabitants are in danger and whose terrifying leaders have the potential to wipe out both their own and our worlds. There are games where men and women must fight to the death for the entertainment of the "Fair One," dungeons, and exiled princesses and princes who endure horrifying punishments in this parallel universe where two moons race across the sky and grand palace towers pierce the clouds. A magical sundial that has the ability to rewind time also exists.

Fairy Tale is an incredibly thrilling and rewarding narrative about an ordinary person thrust into the position of hero by fate. It is as ancient as myth and as shocking and memorable as the rest of King's work.
