False Witness

Leigh Collier has put a lot of effort into creating what seems to be a typical existence. She will do everything for her sixteen-year-old daughter Maddy, is a rising defense lawyer at a prominent Atlanta law firm, and is handling coparenting during a pandemic well after a civil divorce from her spouse Walter.

However, Leigh's normal existence conceals a childhood that no one ought to go through. a youth marred by lies, shattered by treachery, and finally obliterated by a horrible act of violence.

She receives a call from a partner in the business on a Sunday night during her daughter's school performance, asking Leigh to join them in defending a rich guy who is facing several rape charges. She seems to have little option if she wants to maintain her work, despite her misgivings about the case. In a week, they are supposed to go on trial. She discovers that the accused's explicit request for her to defend him is not a coincidence when she finally gets to see him in person. He's known to her. He also knows her. More importantly, he could be aware of the events that transpired more than 20 years ago and the reason Leigh has avoided her past for those 20 years.

She now stands to lose much more than just one lawsuit. After all they've gone through, the only person who can assist is her younger, estranged sister Callie, who Leigh would never want to include in anything. But she is powerless since the devastating truth might soon come to light.
