Bradley and his ugly green chair are finally going to be parted from by high school physics instructor Lucy Savage. In reality, her unfaithful ex-husband's possessions are all over her front yard. Bradley is no longer in her life, even though he stood her up in divorce court. That is, she believes.

Lucy's sister brings her to lunch to celebrate her single status, and during their conversation about Bradley, a bad guy, a police officer becomes interested and wants to arrest Bradley for embezzlement. Officer Zack Warren also believes that Lucy will be able to direct him directly to his target.

Zack says Lucy needs security around-the-clock after someone shoots her and then blows up her vehicle. What use does he suppose her attack cat and three dogs serve? He still insists on moving into Lucy's home immediately.

Danger now lurks in her own kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom in addition to outdoors. Perhaps Zack, who has a shaggy dark hair and a black leather jacket that make him appear like a bad kid, is really one of the nice ones and just what Lucy needs.
