Lieutenant Eve Dallas is sent off planet in the early spring of 2059 to participate in an arduous ordeal: she is to deliver a lecture at the biggest police conference of the year, which is to be held at an opulent resort. a resort that is, incidentally, owned by her spouse, Roarke.
