There is a problem with Malory Price's life plan. She oversees an art gallery in Pleasant Valley, Pennsylvania, and her career is in jeopardy. An invitation to a cocktail party at the notorious mansion above the town, Warrior's Peak, provides a pleasant diversion. However, nobody else she knows has received an invitation.

The other two visitors are a single mother named Zoe McCourt and a librarian named Dana Steele. The ladies seem to have little in common at first, but then their enigmatic hosts tell them a tale and issue a challenge.

According to legend, the spirits of three demigoddesses—a warrior, a poet, and an artist—are imprisoned in a box with three keys. Malory and the others now have the task of locating the keys. Each received a million dollars as payment.

Everything seems too strange to be real. However, none of them can turn their backs on the potential cash bonanza. With her artistic spirit and keen sense of aesthetics, Malory now has to locate her key first. She quickly learns that the entity that had the souls imprisoned was evil, strong, and avaricious—and it didn't want the ladies to triumph.
