Michael J. Fox startled everyone when he revealed in September 1998 that he had been given a Parkinson's disease diagnosis, a degenerative neurological disorder. He had really been battling it covertly for seven years. The reaction on a global scale was astounding. Luckily, he had come to terms with the diagnosis, and by the time the world began to mourn him, he had ceased mourning. Fox now shares the tale of his life, career, and fight to discover a treatment for Parkinson's disease with the same fervor, humor, and intensity that he has given to his many performances over the last eighteen years.

He describes his life, from his early years in a tiny village in western Canada to his quick ascent to fame on cinema and television, using his signature sardonic sensibility and acute sense of absurdity. Most significantly, however, he talks about the last ten years, during which he has managed his disease with the unwavering support of his wife, family, and friends. He speaks on how having Parkinson's has allowed him to have a fantastic life and career, as well as the possibility to raise public awareness of the illness and aid in the hunt for a cure. Truly, he is an extremely fortunate guy.
