Maximum Ride, Vol. 1

Maximum Ride, often known as Max, is fourteen years old and has experienced flying above the earth. She is the same as the other youngsters in the "flock," which consists of Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman, and Angel, except that they are able to fly thanks to their wings. For some, it could seem like a dream come true, but at any point, their life might turn into a nightmare come true—as when Angel, the flock's youngest member, is abducted and brought back to the "School," where she and the others were subjected to cruel experiments by a group of crazy people.

To rescue Angel, her pals traverse the sweltering Death Valley, California, but before long, they're caught up in another nightmare: fending off the half-wolf, half-human "Erasers" in New York City. Max and her new family go on the adventure of a lifetime, whether it's in the tunnels under the Manhattan subway system or among the trees of Central Park. Max learns during the journey that her goal is to rescue the planet, but can she? She learns this from her former father figure and friend Jeb, who has deceived her.
