Mexican Gothic

Noemí Taboada travels to High Place, a remote home in the Mexican countryside, after receiving a desperate letter from her recently married cousin pleading for help to rescue her from an enigmatic destiny. With her cousin's attractive Englishman husband being a stranger and Noemí having little knowledge of the area, she is unsure of what to expect.

Noemí is another improbable hero: Her elegant clothes and flawless red lipstick make her a gorgeous debutante who is more suited for cocktail parties than amateur detective work. However, she is also fearless, strong, and intelligent, with an unbreakable will: Not of his father, the elderly patriarch who appears to be charmed by Noemí; not of her cousin's new husband, who is both seductive and dangerous; not even of the home itself, which starts to intrude Noemí's dreams with images of death and blood.

The youngest son of the family is her lone ally in this hostile residence. Though he looks amiable and shy, he may be concealing some sinister information about his family's history from Noemí. Because there are a lot of mysteries kept within High Place's walls. Noemí discovers tales of brutality and insanity as she looks more into the family, but their former enormous riches and fading mining empire kept them hidden from inquisitive eyes.

Furthermore, Noemí could soon find it hard to ever leave this mysterious mansion behind since she is enthralled with the frightening but alluring world of High Place.
