A story of power, privilege, deception, retaliation, and the decisions we make that have the unintended effect of changing our lives is presented in this thriller set in a home, where a mother must choose the extent to which she will go to save her kid and the life she loves.

Taking revenge doesn't wait for approval.

Bree Cabbat was told as a poor child growing up in a remote area of Georgia that the world was a dangerous and gloomy place. Life has shown that Bree was correct to reject that pessimistic perspective. Bree’s married into a wealthy, powerful, and connected family, and she now has everything a woman could ask for.

Up until the morning when she wakes up and notices someone looking through her bedroom window—an elderly, gray-haired lady who is clothed entirely in black and disappears as soon as she does. Shaking off the terrible sensation that comes over her, Bree convinces herself that it must be a play of the early morning light or the leftover of a waking dream.

But later that day, she spots the elderly lady once again in the private school parking lot of her children, just before Bree's little boy, sound asleep in his car seat a few feet away, disappears. It occurred so fast that Bree hardly had time to look aside. A letter alerting her to the fact that she is being observed and instructing her not to contact the police or stray in any way from the next set of instructions is placed in his place.

After reaching out, the enigmatic lady reveals to Bree that she is a mother as well. Why would this be done by another mother? What is her desire? Why is she going after Bree, anyway? Naturally, Bree is willing to pay and do whatever. That's her kid.

Bree has a minor but important chore to do before she can have her baby back. Though it seems innocuous enough, her behavior has grave consequences.

Bree is willing to go to any lengths to keep her family safe, but what if doing so destroys their whole world?
