Amy Whey takes pride in her everyday activities and the small joys they bring, such as helping her closest friend Charlotte run their neighborhood reading club, baking cookies for new neighbors, and teaching diving lessons. Her family—her loving husband who works as a professor, her lively fifteen-year-old stepdaughter, and her darling baby boy—brings her the most happiness. However, one book club night, Amy's simple, peaceful life falls apart when the enigmatic and seductive Angelica Roux shows up at her door.
