Nevermore

Isobel Lanley, a cheerleader, is shocked to be assigned with Varen Nethers for an English assignment that is unfairly due on the day of the rival game. Varen is sarcastic and sharp-tongued, cold and distant, and it's obvious he'd prefer not to interact with her either.But Isobel can't help but take another look at this mysterious lad with the piercing eyes once she finds some unusual writing in his notebook.

Isobel soon finds herself thinking up reasons to spend time with Varen. Gradually separating herself from her companions and her domineering partner, Isobel delves further and farther into the surreal universe Varen has created from the pages of his notebook—a place where the macabre tales of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.

Isobel learns that the most terrifying realities are those of the imagination and that dreams, like words, have more power than she could have ever imagined as her whole world starts to fall apart around her. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.
