The release date for the English version of 'On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God' by Louise Rennison is Apr 2001. If you enjoy this novel, it is available for buy as a paperback from Barnes & Noble or Indigo, as an ebook on the Amazon Kindle store, or as an audiobook on Audible.

Though it definitely helps, you don't have to be a teenager to enjoy the amusing and often conceited diaries of 14-year-old Georgia Nicolson. Now, readers who enjoyed Georgia's first collection of funny life observations, Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging, will be able to have another glimpse into the mind of this humorously curious English girl with the delightful sequel, On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God.

As the title suggests, Georgia has found herself the guy of her dreams, Robbie, a sex god. After engaging in some "full-frontal snogging," Georgia focuses on developing their friendship. However, when she finds out that her father's new job would require a transfer to New Zealand, things soon go bad. Georgia, brokenhearted, believes her life has come to an end. Then, by some miracle, the dreaded relocation is called off, and everything seems to be improving. That is, until Robbie, who is 17 years old, decides to break up with Georgia because he finds their age gap bothersome.

Unreservedly drawing from her mother's wardrobe and self-help books, Georgia devises a plan to win Robbie back, despite her unwavering rejection of everything her mother preaches. Everything goes wrong as usual, and to make matters worse, there's Georgia's tiny sister Libby, who is fascinated with her body and has no control over it, and her temperamental cat, Angus, who is starting to show signs of sexual behavior. Of course, there are other misfortunes as well: a quick-tan lotion that gives Georgia's legs an orange tint, an encounter with the appropriately titled Bummer sisters, and sometimes intractable pals.

Who would have thought that teenage angst could be so much fun? This hilarious and very narcissistic portrayal of adolescent life from Georgia's point of view is fantastic. And even though there are times when language barriers arise (a glossary of terminology is included at the back of the book), everyone who is or has ever been a teenager will find that Georgia's experiences and ideas are globally relatable.
