Prayers for Rain

Karen Nichols comes across to Boston private detective Patrick Kenzie as an innocent person from a privileged background. However, Patrick is left wondering what may happen so abruptly and violently that suicide appears to be the only choice when Karen kills herself six months later.

During the last few weeks of a sweltering summer, Patrick engages in psychological warfare with a brilliant sociopath who, rather than just killing his victims, would prefer to make them wish they were dead.
