"Never venture into the deepest areas of the forest, as numerous perils await you there, ready to entangle your soul."

Serafina has never had a cause to defy her father and go beyond the Biltmore estate's boundaries. Her opulent mansion offers enough exploration opportunities, but she must be cautious to avoid being seen. Since she can remember, Serafina and her father, the estate's maintenance guy, have lived in secret in the basement, hidden from the wealthy people above.

However, only Serafina is aware of the identity of the perpetrator when kids at the estate begin to vanish: a terrible guy who patrols Biltmore's hallways at night while dressed in a black cloak. After making her own terrifying escape, Serafina takes a huge gamble by teaming up with Braeden Vanderbilt, the owner of the Biltmore's young nephew. Before the kids disappear one by one, Braeden and Serafina have to find out who the Man in the Black Cloak really is.

Serafina finds herself in the exact woodland she has been trained to dread as a result of her search. There, she unearths a magical heritage that has been forgotten yet is connected to her identity. Serafina has to find the pieces that fit together to piece together her history if she is to rescue the children of Biltmore.
