Maud Demille was an innkeeper's daughter. Although she was aware that she wouldn't have a simple existence, she had no idea what misfortune would await her.

Maud, who was formerly the wife of a formidable vampire knight, was banished to the barren planet of Karhari along with her daughter Helen due to her husband's transgressions. After Karhari killed her husband, Maud had been exacting revenge on him for a year and a half. However, all debts have already been settled. After being saved by her sister Dina, Maud vowed to stay away from vampires. She did, however, meet Arland, the House Krahr Marshal. After a while, he proposed to her and asked for her hand in marriage. She said no.

She can't just walk away from Arland, no matter how hard she tries. It doesn't help that Maud finds life on Earth far more difficult than living as a vampire.

She accepts his invitation to go to his home planet in an attempt to resolve everything. Maud is aware that House Krahr is a formidable vampire house and that a woman who declined the offer from its most adored son would not be well received. Maud Demille, however, was never afraid to fight, and House Krahr might soon find that this human woman is more than they ever imagined.

Published as a free online serial before the book is assembled, and soon after it is finished, it is self-published.
