First rule: Keep your eyes off the devil.
I assumed my relatives would be like me—outcast sorcerers who don't use magic—when I got to my uncle's house. On the sorcery, I was correct; on everything else, I was mistaken.
The second rule is to ignore the monster.
My uncle went with a far more lethal power. He summons creatures of darkness into our realm, sells them to the highest bidder, and bonds them to service agreements. Additionally, I'm expected to pretend as though I'm unaware of how risky and unlawful this is.
Third rule: Avoid conversing with the devil.
I only needed to avoid getting my nose in it. Act as if I had not discovered the summoning circle in the lower level. Act as though I was blind to the shadowy creature imprisoned inside. Act as though I followed the rules.
However, I did, and it's too late now.
