Beatriz is sleeping as Rodolfo goes back to work in the capital, and voices start talking to her. Every step she takes is followed by the weight of unseen gazes. Beatriz's worries are mocked by Juana, Rodolfo's sister, so why won't she go inside the home at night? Why does the chef mark the doorway with odd symbols and burn copal incense at the border of the kitchen? What was the true fate of the first Doña Solórzano?

Beatriz is only aware of two There's a problem at the hacienda. And nobody there is going to help her.

She clings to Padre Andrés, the young priest, as an ally in her need for assistance. Not your typical priest, Andrés will need to use his witchcraft abilities to ward off the evil force stalking the hacienda and save the lady he is deeply attracted to but is barred from seeing. However, he may not be sufficient to overcome the gloom.

San Isidro could be Beatriz's downfall rather than a haven.
