Ashallayn' darkmyr Tallyn is my name, or rather, my true name. I am Mab's son, the last living member of the Unseelie Court. And to her, I'm dead. Like many tales, mine started with a girl.

Love, to the icy faery prince Ash, was a weakness belonging to idiots and humans. Whatever softer impulses the Winter prince may have had were destroyed by the terrible loss of his own love. That is, he believed.

Subsequently, Meghan Chase, a half-human, half-fey slip of a girl, broke past his barriers and swore to be her knight, forever linking him to her. She also broke their tie to spare his life when the Iron fey almost took over all of Faery. As the Iron Queen, Meghan rules over a kingdom that is uninhabitable for either Summer or Winter fey.

Along with the obnoxious cait sith Grimalkin and his archrival, Summer Court trickster Puck, Ash embarks on a trip that he will undoubtedly see through to the very end: the search for a means to keep his promise to be by Meghan's side.

Ash needs a soul and a mortal body in order to live in the Iron Realm. But it's difficult for him to pass the exams he needs to get these items. Ash also picks up a lesson that alters everything along the road. A fact that disproves his deepest convictions and demonstrates to him that, on sometimes, making the ultimate sacrifice requires more than just bravery.
