When the final remnant of Jane Austen's legacy is under danger, a diverse collection of people band together to protect her house and her heritage. These individuals—a movie star, a young widow, a labourer, and the town doctor, among others—could not be more unlike from one another, yet they are all bound by a shared appreciation of Jane Austen's writings. They get together to form the Jane Austen Society despite each of them going through their own private battle with pain and loss—some from the recent war, others from earlier tragedies.
