This is the last continent of the Discworld, an entirely distinct creation.

It's warm. It's quite dry. There once existed something called The Wet, but it's no longer believed in. Almost anything that isn't toxic may be poisonous. But hey, it's the world's greatest bloody location, right?

Who is this crimson desert-dwelling hero walking across? Proud sheep shearer, equestrian, tough guy on the road, lover of beer, wilderness ranger, and someone who will even have a Meat Pie Floater in sobriety? A guy with a hat on whose short legs his luggage follows, who is about to make history by stopping a swagman from taking a jumbuck from a billabong?

Yes, this area is only saved from wind-blown destruction by Rincewind, the incompetent wizard who is unable of even casting a spell. He remains the lone hero.
