Young Ropa looks into a missing child case in the seediest neighborhoods of Edinburgh. To find clues, she'll have to use both her Scottish pragmatism and Zimbabwean magic. But will the hunter turn into the prey as the shadows get longer?

She will listen to ghosts when they speak.

Ropa left school to work as a ghostalker. She now communicates with the dead in Edinburgh and delivers messages to the living. It looks harmless enough, but a girl has to make a livelihood. That is, until there's a dead murmur that kids are being charmed by someone and are being left as lifeless, joyless husks. Since it's on Ropa's patch, she feels obligated to look into it. But her world will be altered by what she discovers.

She'll play with death (not exactly how she planned to end her life...), gaining an interest in hidden magic and an occult library. She will likewise go through difficult moments. Because there are many secrets hidden in Edinburgh, and Ropa will go looking for them all.
