The Long Call

Detective Matthew Venn watches his father's funeral from outside the church in North Devon, where two rivers meet and flow into the sea. The moment Matthew left the conservative Christian society where he was raised, his family—whom he had formerly loved and cherished—also vanished.

He now gets a call from a member of his squad as he turns and leaves again. A man who was fatally stabbed and had an albatross tattooed on his neck was discovered dead on the next beach.

Matthew is called back to the neighborhood he had assumed he had left behind by this case, as its deadly secrets come to light and his past and present collide.
