Fairy tales were never Rebecca Porter's thing as an American. Lacey, her twin sister, has always been the idealistic person who daydreamed of glitz, monarchy, and wealth. However, Bex is the one who moves down the hall from Prince Nicholas, the future ruler of Great Britain, in search of adventure at Oxford. Bex is thrust into a world she did not anticipate living in and into a limelight she is ill-prepared to handle when she finds herself irresistibly drawn to Nick, the man behind the prince.

Bex discovers glamorous society, exciting ski excursions, and meals at Kensington Palace with Nick and his endearing but problematic brother, Freddie, as a result of their dating. Unimaginable baggage, however, also comes with the relationship: crazy tabloids, Nick's glamorous and much more suited ex-girlfriends, and a royal family whose inner lives are considerably more sad and thornier than the public knows. Bex finds it difficult to reconcile her love for the man with his destiny as a king, and the demands are nearly too much for her to handle.

It is how she encounters difficulties.

Bex is now confronted with the question of whether all she has given up for love—her job, her house, her family, and maybe even herself—will have been in vain on the eve of the wedding of a century.
