After Candace Swain disappeared one night at a sorority party, Lucas Vega became fixated on her death. Two weeks later, her body was discovered, but the case has become unsolved. Lucas finds new information while interning at the medical examiner's office three years later, but the police show little interest in it.
Lucas is aware that he has multiple reliable pieces to the puzzle. He simply doesn't know how they work together. To relive Candace's final moments, he consequently starts a podcast. Next, he invites guest lecturer Regan Merritt, a former US marshal, to offer her knowledge and urges listeners to crowdsource what they remember.
Fresh information arrives, persuading Lucas and Regan that they are on the right track. Subsequently, an unexpectedly deceased podcast caller is discovered. Another offers a considerably worse picture of Candace's hidden existence than Lucas had anticipated, one that also implicates other sorority sisters. Regan discovers that Lucas is keeping his own secret while using her own resources to support their theory. The pressure is on to solve the murder, but before the perpetrator silences Lucas permanently, he needs to be honest about why he is pursuing this podcast.
