Two witches control the destiny of a continent that is on the verge of war.

Safiya and Iseult, two young witches, are always looking for mischief. Following a confrontation with an influential Guildmaster and his vicious Bloodwitch bodyguard, the friends are compelled to escape their residence.

Because Safi is a rare Truthwitch who can tell the truth from falsehoods, she must escape captivity at all costs. Safi has to keep her ability a secret since many will murder for it, lest she be used in an empire-versus-empire conflict. Even Iseult is unaware of her actual abilities.

Safi meets Prince Merik by coincidence at Court and befriends him despite his reluctance. His assistance may not be able to stop the Bloodwitch, who is now pursuing the girls. Safi and Iseult just want to be free, but there's danger ahead. Together, the companions will face up against mercenaries and emperors as a magical infection spreads throughout the country, war looms, and treaties are broken. Some people will do anything it takes to get a Truthwitch.
