A dejected romantic caterer-waiter and a disillusioned wedding harpist romance and struggle through a summer full with nuptials.

For many years, Quinn Berkowitz and Tarek Mansour's families have collaborated in their respective businesses: Quinn's parents are event coordinators, while Tarek owns a catering firm. Quinn sent him a meandering email at the end of the previous summer to profess her crush on him; he went for college without answering.

Almost as much as Quinn has been dreading spending another summer playing the harp at her parents' weddings, she has been dreading seeing him again. They fall out right away when he shows up at the first summer wedding, looking hotter than ever after a year apart. Tarek has always thought that extravagant wedding gestures are ideal—the more extravagant, the better—but Quinn believes they are insincere. Quinn is thrust together with Tarek at wedding after wedding, from pulling off a daring cake rescue to standing in for a missing bridesmaid and groomsman, all while they are unable to have a polite conversation.

Quinn finds it impossible to ignore her feelings for him, especially after discovering the truth about his silence, disclosing her own worries, and taking lessons from an intriguing master in the art of harp-making.

Perhaps Quinn's decision to let herself fall is the most honest thing she has ever done, and perhaps love isn't the enemy after all.
